The Carrolleers organization is the parent support group for Carroll High School instrumental music and color guard programs. Realizing the educational and social benefits of these programs to the lives of their children, the Carrolleers volunteer time, money and effort to insure the continuation of these benefits at the highest level possible. Like all other high school music programs, Carroll’s is equally expensive to maintain and requires sizable funding to insure its continuation. The Carrolleers help to meet this huge challenge through fundraising activities. Approximately two-thirds of each student’s costs are raised through these activities, while one-third is raised through the student’s participation fee. While raising money is a large part of the Carrolleers’ commitments, they also volunteer in other ways to insure that the programs run smoothly.
The Carrolleers provide a great deal of moral support for the students, as well as social interaction for themselves. If possible, they, along with their relatives and friends, attempt to sit together at all competitions and football games. Thereby, insure a loud and visible cheering section for the students. This, as well as participation in fund-raising, promotes socialization among the parents (and students), along with a wonderful feeling of team effort. Many enduring friendships have begun in this group over the years of existence. Some of them, lasting long after their children’s high school years ended. These are the commitments and the joys of the Carrolleers.
